Actia

The ACTIA Groupe specializes in the design, manufacture and operation of electronics for systems management in the automotive, aeronautics, railway, telecommunication networks or energy sectors.

Its Automotive division is specialized in automotive diagnostics. The division imagines and builds embedded calculators for diagnostics or telematics (external communication). Those systems are used in garage or car dealership or directly onboard afterwards.

Besoin

In order to stay competitive towards their final customers, ACTIA was looking to study the feasibility to bring the source code of a diagnostic applications coded in C++ to work under Android and Linux.

Those systems are more likely to be used in garages and car dealerships. Moreover, it was a  challenge as the solution has to run still under C++.

Solution

After consultation, ACTIA choosed to call on the DocDoku team due to the quality of its technical and work expertise.

Mathias Choquet, R&D engineer, explains : “the DocDoku expert’s profile was answering to our need because he had all the skills we were searching” and insists that the profile has “a high quality rarely seen”.

In concrete terms, DocDoku missions were the following :

  • Consulting on the set up of the compilation / packaging chain
  • C++ POC porting to Android
  • Gradual reworking strategy to make to best use of the Android platform

Flexibilty and agility were two decisive components in the success of the mission. Mathias Choquet insists on the fact that “the DocDoku consultant knew how to adapt himself to the project pace and thought with the flow” with the project teams.

Finally, the contribution of DocDoku allowed ACTIA to identify and avoid any risks related to the migration setup and given maturity to the project. While bringing to light in a pragmatic way the complexity of the process.
A “well” executed mission that gave ACTIA to possibility to test different approaches, eliminate the impasse with the flow and move forward technically in its reflexion.

To this day, the subject is still open at ACTIA, waiting for an operational project to put into practice the strategies and recommandations identified during the mission.

Oktal (Sogeclair group)

Oktal (Sogeclair Group)

Key player in aeronautics, automotive and railway markets, Oktal is a supplier of simulation solutions adapted to training, research and engineering. The company joined the Simulation Division of Sogeclair Group in 2000.

Need

Facing a high increase in its activities, Oktal wanted to industrialize the production of some of its simulators, used by its various markets (automotive, railway, aeronautics).

With this aim in mind, the company had to get equipped  with a PLM solution that can provide, for every step of the system products development cycle (design, development, manufacture and maintenance) :

  • product effectivities management,
  • modelization and application of its product conception and modification process,
  • management of system products configuration,
  • past projects capitalization, to reuse the technological bricks that have been developed,
  • maintenance management (multi-sites and multi-clients).

Solution

We have worked in close collaboration with Oktal in order to make DocDokuPLM platform available and matching with their needs and within the pressing due date.

So our project approach was the following :

  • Functional and technical analysis,
  • Customization according to requirements,
  • Setup and configuration,
  • Key users training,
  • Private cloud for solution deployment.

In less that 6 months, the project was successfully completed, running in production and using real products.

Discover below one of Oktal’s most appreciated feature, thanks to its flexibility and multi-context dimension. It is in fact the search function or “Query builder” that answers to two main goals :

  • Maximum autonomy : the module offers an excellent flexibility.  Users can liberally make the most of the PLM datas without any required intervention on the code,
  • Cross-referenced search : if the datas displayed by the query are focused on articles, search results can also return informations linked to the finished products instances.

The export feature is coming from this module, allowing search result to be transposed into a spreadsheet format.

Servair

Servair

Created in 1971, Servair is the french leader and third global actor on airline catering, providing standard and custom-made meals. The company is also taking care of air transportation logistics, offering cleaning and preparing services for plane cabins (water, pharmacy, newspapers…), on-board press management and many more.

Need

In order to optimize their In-Flight management and control, Servair wanted to start a paper-free approach, based on touch screen tablet and web browser.
The goal was to improve quality control using digitalized procedures. As requested by Servair, we brought our expertise to carry out the solution.

Solution

A multi-platform application needs an hybrid development so we advised to built it using web technologies (HTML5 / CSS3 / Javascript) and integrate this « web app » to a native application thanks to WebWiew component.
The final result is a classic application that distributes, sets up and runs like any other application, while running on a browser.
To make the most of this application implementation in this approach, we have based its development on the Open Source PhoneGap framework.

Communication between tablet application and back office was implemented using Web Services REST (JSON) on the HTTP transport protocol.

Air France

Air France

Air France is France main airline company, belonging to Air France-KLM group with a fleet of more than 600 aircrafts. Carrying more than 90 million passengers per year, the group is renowned the world over for the quality of its offering, the structure and density of its network and its efforts in digital innovation and customer service.

Need

The first AF Press Mobile app was made by Air France in 2013, allowing passengers to download and read newspapers and magazines in pdf format on their own tablets.  The goal of 2015 was to launch the version 2.0 of this app, including a new restyled interface, enhanced compatibility to smartphones, random access memory use optimization and support of the widest possible range of Android devices.

Solution

A brand new native app has been created and will be available shortly on Play Store. All screen sizes and all density are supported. The app is available from Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich), covering more that 90 % of the devices.

Need

Mobile presence is strategic on the airline booking market so Air France is asking for our expertise to develop new mobile versions (iOS and Android) to be used by their customers for flight consultation, plane ticket purchase, check-in, booking management…

Solution

As this mobile app has to please 20 000 additional  users each month, we focused on strong native developments (iOS and Android) in order to answer to Air France main issue : the evergrowing quantity of clients using the app.

Need

In order to answer to a client project, Air France requested skills improvement  on Android development for its coworkers.

Solution

Android development training course.

Continental

Continental Automotive

With more than 220 000 employees  in 56 countries, Continental group is subdivided into Automotive Group and Rubber Group or respectively into 5 divisions : Chassis & Safety, Powertrain, Interior, Tire and ContiTech. The Group ranks among the top 5 actors of automotive sub-contractors.

Need

Continental Automotive and its division Interior wanted to offer its clients an on-board multiplatform mobile application allowing a driver assistance system.

Directly connected to the car dongle and in this way to its on-board equipments (camera and sensors), the application has to transpose informations collected on the road in real time by its equipements such as obstacle and pedestrian detection,  road makings or road signs.

Solution

Particular attention was given first to design and ergonomics of the user interface for the driver to be better informed on his smartphone in real time and so the application  reflects at best car sensors condition.

In technologies, the project has been entirely developped using web standards (HTML5 and JavaScript) in order to be used on different market smartphones (Android, iOS or Windows Phone).

Mia Electric

Mia Electric

Mia Electric designs and builds electric vehicles, 100% made in France only. Based in Cerizay, in the French department of Deux Sevres, the Company provides emission free mobility at an affordable price and accessible to all, to answer to the realities of urban and suburban transport needs and the increasing price of fossil fuels.

Need

In 2010, the construction plant was entirely re-equipped. The team was strenghtened to reach 16 designers and an R&D department of no less than 80 engineers. The Production capacity is now reaching 12,000 vehicles per year eq. to 1200 per month.
Obviously, all of this should comply to the most demanding aspects of current legislation, such as ISO 9001 and 14001 certification standards.
To raise such challenges, a robust PLM solution was mandatory.

Solution

We deployed DocDokuPLM on a tailored, high availability and secured private cloud infrastructure. We also developed small extensions that enabled the car maker to successfully passed crucial certifications.
